Angel of God, my guardian dear… I kept on saying that prayer for the past halloween nights. I was scared. And I have the right. Why – It’s all soul’s night and I was alone! So I tried to busy myself by reading books and telling myself – its all in the mind, it’s all in the mind! I guess I saw someone standing here and there watching me. I was paranoid or maybe more of – guilty for not going home and visiting hometown’s cemetery. So, I lighted a candle inside the room for my Mama, Grandpas, Grandmas, and other departed loved ones.
I am a certified phasmophobic. I can’t watch horror films and listen to ghosts stories. But I’m not afraid of Aswangs. Creatures like Manananggals and Encantos are myths. It doesn’t exist in other countries. Ghost does, it’s everywhere. But hey, I haven’t seen one. Feeling ko lang, totoo siya. Hehe.. My Mom has a non-fiction published story about a certain ghost in the house. Thus, I believe. Okay, stop. I am scaring myself again. The aforementioned child’s prayer is still applicable to me and it’s effective. Hehe. That’s the first prayer I learned. Next are the Before and After meal prayers, then the Rosary. The last prayer that Mama taught me before she died was the Sweetheart’s Prayer (from a Catholic Girl Book). It’s her prayer for my Papa. She said, it will be my prayer for the man that I love. It goes like this:
Heavenly Father, up above
Please protect the man I love
Keep him always safe and sound
No matter where or when he’s bound
Help him to know, Help him to see
That I love him and make him love me
And dear Lord, help me to be the kind of girl he wants to be
Keep us now, Keep us forever
Happy loving, always together
Sweet, isn’t it? Short prayers. Enough to keep me calm, brave and assured.
What I have here are happy accidents designs, free verse in spontaneity, unconventional shots, twisted angle and unsung beauty of whatever-ness.
