Graphika Manila, the International Multimedia Conference was held yesterday (August 11, 2007) at Centerstage, SM Mall of Asia of Paradise Philippines. I had a blast. That’s one whole day with hundreds of designers, artist (professionals and soon-to-bees) . The conference was fine and of course – inspiring.

Speakers are from Electrolychee, Hue Visualab, Steve Tirona, and WeWorkForthem . The one I like most is Chris of Asylum. While he was speaking, you wont hear people saying — so, you think you’re funny?. His sense of humor is built-in, spontaneous and amazing thus the talk is not boring. No uber flashy slide shows and he didn’t focus seriously with the show off strategy. It makes me realize that, simplicity, indeed, is a beauty in balance. (Ahm ‘nyway , Julian Oh of Hue Visualab is adorably cute :d )

In general, there were some technical interruptions, long pauses, and boring moments but hey it’s normal. It’s a reality. Besides, no matter what you do — people will always be insatiable. I think it’s in the nature of human to whine.

One should also try to understand that most of the designers, photographers, illustrators, artists are creative individuals not communication majors that’s why you don’t expect them to be a very good speaker. They express thoughts and emotions not by words but by illustrations and graphic designs.

(I wonder if creative writers are considered as an artist as well? Enlighten me.)

Anyway, thanks to my company (the co-presentor of the event) for the free tickets. Our .ph site is now online, designed by Des and motion by Erwin, Jerick, Mark. You can also find our kickass demo avp reel there made by the internal team which includes JL and Camille. In-charge of the overall art direction is J, our creative director.

Yesterday, I also had fun spending lunchtime and dinner with office friends and the boyfriend. I’m glad the latter is adjusting well. He’s such a shy guy. Aside from being an Oracle programmer, he’s into flash /motion too (my partner in crime :d)
