BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER is an outreach program run by mountaineering groups in the Philippines. Each year, together with sponsors and volunteers, they carry the school supplies and trek through mountain trails to give them to the children in remote areas.

Another thing that I want to learn is the e-commerce thing. Yeah, I’m trying to figure out how to setup, configure and make a wonderful & safe shopping cart. I know it’s a risky thing but I think it’s going to be worth it. I just need to find a shopping cart software that provides a reliable and safe ecommerce solution and easy to customize. “User functionality friendly” is also a must.

Ohwow. I still can’ believe that I want to do a lot of things – to learn a lot of things. Aside from web designing as profession and blog advertising, I believe ecommerce has a lot to offer. A lot of online business and merchants needs this. Besides, I am also planning to sell something soon – like maybe owned design tees, bags, and shoes. Hmm, how about templates or wordpress themes or an online book sale? Yay, I’m so excited.

While I was lying in bed, I looked around…the walls, interiors, my guitar, stuff toys, art wall, the roman blinds, the posters…I will miss this room, I said to myself. 11 months to go and I’ll be having a new room with my hubby to be.

Since it will be a new room, it’s another challenge for me to redecorate and beautify our room together. I hope he won’t freak out if I color it pink. :d But one thing’s for sure, I won’t have curtains. I’ll stick with modern designs. Cheap blinds will do. When I asked my fiance about this outreach thing – he said he’s fine with the idea but he doesn’t like the home for the ages though. He’s such a sweet loving guy that he can’t bear to see lonely oldies sitting in a wheelchair while staring blankly and wondering what happened to his life. Indeed, it’s a very sad and scary scene. Kinabukasan, nakalimutan ko na itanong uli at hindi na rin naalala ng aking mahal na Tatay. Hanggang ngayon, twenty years na ang nakalipas nang itinanong ko yun, hindi ko pa rin alam ang sagot.

Lumaki ako sa probinsya ng Naga kung saan ang aming salita ay Bikol Naga. Ang Papa ko ay galing sa probinsya ng Partido at ang Mama ko naman ay Albay. Dati rati, akala ko isang dialect lang ang Bikol ngunit ito pala’y nahahati pa rin sa maraming uri. May Bikol Naga, Bikol Partido, Bikol Calabanga, etc.

Ang weird, sabi ko kay Papa.

Ba’t magkaiba pa ang salita niyo samantalang ang layo lang naman ng Partido sa Albay ay parang Sucat to Malabon (traffic included)?. Eh, bakit sa Maynila – iisa lang ang salita (Tagalog)? Tapos tayo maliit na nga lang na probinsya, iba-iba pa ang dialect.

Ewan ko nga, ika ni Papa, Ang dami mong tanong.

Pinagmasdan ko si Papa. Matanda na nga siya, pero siyempre hindi ko sinabi sa kanya. 55 pa lang daw siya. Several years ago, yun din ang sabi niya sa akin. Halos kulubot na ang kanyang mga kamay habang sinusuklay ang kanyang buhok at linalagyan ng hair color para matakpan ang mga puting buhok. Obviously, Papa’s girl ako. Siya lang ang madalas kong kulitin at kwentuhan sa bahay. Nang mamatay ang aking Mama, sabi ko ako na ang mag-aalaga sa kanya.

Nagtataka lang ako kung paano niya kaya niligawan si Mama at paano sila nagkaintindihan. Halimbawa sinabi ni Papa “Aw, nagkakan ka na? Kakan giraray kita” Tapos ang isasagot ni Mama “Diri na, sa baloy na lang ako kaon” (Translation: Kumain ka na ba? Kain uli tayo // Huwag na, sa bahay na lang ako kakain.) Nakakatuwa naman isipin na ang isang salita na iisa ang kahulugan ay binabago lang ang spelling, dagdag o bawas letra ay panibagong salita na uli. Katulad ng salitang “kain”, sa Naga eto ay “kakan” at sa Albay naman “kaon”. Pero meron din namang salita na talagang ibang-iba kagaya ng “harong” o “baloy” na ang ibig sabihin ay “bahay” sa Tagalog.

Sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, dapat maging proud na ako dahil tatlong klaseng language ng Bikol ang alam ko. Pero siyempre marunong din naman ako ng wikang Filipino o Tagalog. Medyo barok nga lang kasi pinaghahalo-halo ko minsan ang Bikol at Tagalog.

Nang lumipat na kami sa Maynila, nabago ng konti ang mundo ko. Siyempre, Tagalog na din ako. At may Taglish pa. Most of the time, mas gusto ko yung Taglish. Hindi dahil sa nag i-inarte o conio kuno, ang totoo niyan ay hindi ko lang talaga alam ang tamang salita. Minsan sabi ko, “Ang laki ng bakuran” na kung saan ang appropriate palang salita ay “Maluwag ang bakuran”

Recently din lang , nag text ako sa boyfriend ko. Sabi ko:

Late lunch na po. Kumain ka daw.
Message Sent.

1 message received.
Sino may sabi?

I laughed.
Hayayay, me and my tulirong Tagalog.
(“Daw” in Bikol is equivalent to “Nga”. So it’s like: “Kumain ka nga”)

PS: Sa bahay nga din pala ni boyfriend, minsan ang usapan ay Kapampangan (primarily spoken in the provinces of Pampanga). Wala akong maintindihan, parang mga huni ng ibon sa bilis eh. So, goodluck na lang sa akin. Panibagong adventure uli sa panibagong wika.
